ZELA LONDON
LUXURY RESTAURANT IN THE CENTER OF LONDON | PROJECT: GRONDA STUDIO + BMLD
Located on the ground floor of the ME Hotel in London’s West End, Zela blends Japanese and Mediterranean influences in both its cuisine and design. Studio Gronda preserved the original arched windows and high ceilings, introducing lush green arcades, tropical-inspired wallpaper, and a suspended glass ceiling that creates a semi-open canopy effect.
Lighting, designed by BMLD, plays a key role: concealed fixtures highlight the arches, surface-mounted spotlights bring focus to tables, and integrated linear lights make the glass ceiling glow. The two back bars complete the atmosphere—one for sushi with subtle, focused lighting, and a cocktail bar with an illuminated stone counter that comes alive at night.
